July 4 is this Saturday, and there are tons of events around town to celebrate the occasion.
One free event is the fireworks display at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park.
The plan is to start lighting up the nighttime sky at 9 p.m. and keep the fireworks going for a full hour. (Unfortunately, that's a little too late for my little munchkin. Sigh.)
Keep in mind that although the event is gratis, parking most certainly will not be. There are plenty of lots around Expo Park, however, including a structure at 39th and Fig.
