Grab those pint-sized boots and hats and round up the little ones for National Day of the Cowboy and Cowgirl at the Autry Museum of the American West in Griffith Park. On Saturday, July 24, the museum will pay tribute to the American Cowboy -- and Cowgirl -- by hosting a bevy of buckaroo-friendly activities from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Not only will the kiddos be able to play dress-up in Western wear, they'll also be able to participate in a watermelon seed spitting contest, watch the Reserve Mounted Sheriff's Posse ride around on horseback and take in a performance by The Tumbling Tumbleweeds. (For more details, click here.)
The Autry encourages visitors to dress for the occasion, but makes a point of mentioning that no firearms are permitted on the property. (So, cowboy up and settle any differences with words, not gun slinging.)
