UPDATE: Congrats to LAwonders, aka Jenn, who won the pair of tickets to see and hear "West Side Story" at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, July 8! Thanks to everyone who participated. And ... stay tuned! I'll have another Hollywood Bowl giveaway next week!
The Hollywood Bowl -- that superb spot for summertime entertainment -- is hosting what looks to be a great night out for parents. Two nights, actually. And I'm giving away a pair of tickets!
On July 8 and 9, the LA Philharmonic presents the MGM classic musical "West Side Story" in HD in honor of the film's 50th anniversary.
The LA Phil will perform the famous orchestral score from Leonard Bernstein and the Stephen Sondheim songs live, while the newly remastered film plays in high definition on the Hollywood Bowl's big screen, with the original songs and dialogue intact.
Based on the book by Arthur Laurents with choreography by Jerome Robbins, the 1961 film stars Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer as a star-crossed couple who fall in love despite coming from rival New York City gangs.
David Newman will serve as conductor for the LA Philharmonic.
