CC rebuilds the "Frozen" landscape. |
Ever since we saw Disney's latest animated film Frozen, CC has been talking about sisters Elsa and Anna, Sven the reindeer and Olaf the snowman.
Let's just say, it made an impact. She already wants to see the film again. (You can check out our video review of the movie here.)
So when we had the chance to participate in Mattel's Disney Insider program, which gave CC a sneak peek at an assortment of Disney dolls -- Elsa, Anna and Kristoff (SRP: $19.99) -- she was thrilled! (She even took Anna to the Frozen screening.)
What was even better was when she used her amazingly vibrant imagination (yes, I'm her mom; I brag sometimes) to re-create the icy snowscape from the movie during play time.
She gathered up her wooden blocks and built the town of Arendelle, where the sisters are from, and placed one of Will's white blankets on top of a step stool to make Elsa's ice castle.
It was pretty creative, I have to say. She even built a makeshift sleigh with a little Sven made of wooden blocks!
Princess Anna sits in CC's makeshift sleigh. |
When I talked to CC about the movie -- and how brave and persistent the characters were -- I asked her if she's ever been scared of something that she later overcame (not in those exact words, but you know).
"When I had my first spelling test," she said. (That was this year in 1st grade.)
"And what did you do to keep going, even though you were nervous?" I asked.
"I just did it. Now it's really easy."
Just like Anna, trekking up that mountain with Kristoff and Sven. She just did it.

This isn't scary, but my daughter overcame her nail biting habit. I told her how she was putting a lot of germs in her mouth and she might get sick and miss out on fun stuff, and she quit biting.

My girls adore this movie too and are asking to see it again.
My youngest used to have a huge fear of hair, loose hair no longer attached to anyone's head. The worst was in the tub when a hair would be floating. It took a while but I would show her as I plucked a hair from my head and then let it float in the tub. After a while she wasn't scared anymore.
What a great giveaway! Something that Maisie has been scared of is swimming and falling to a pool! We had tried lessons in the past and then again this year. This year with consistent lessons, she's been a trooper and has overcome her fear of jumping into a a pool and I have confidence that if she fell in she'd be OK. She's done great at working through the "scary" moments. I'll share too!!

My granddaughter was afraid of heights, she wouldn't go into the play house at McDonalds because she didn't want to go up so high. One day there was a little girl there her age who asked her to go up with her...now she loves it!

My daughter is terrified of lightning/storms. We have an icon in her room of Saint Katerina & I told her that mom and dad, and Saint Katerina watches over her and keeps her safe.

Our little gal used to be scared of talking to anyone, she stutters and has speech delay and can't pronounce words very well. We explained that it takes practice to slow down when she speaks and it will get easier. She is not as afraid to speak to anyone now. And finally has a good circle of friends that help her when she has trouble getting any words out.

When we moved to another state a few months ago the kids in the neighborhood would be pretty mean to my daughter, she would be so sad because they wouldn't want to play with her just for no reason. It was pretty upsetting for me to see but it's not like I could make the other kids play with her so I would just try to do fun things with her to make it up.

Fingers crossed! My daughter is OBSESSED with Frozen and she would be so thrilled to have these dolls.
My grandson is determined to conquer whatever he comes across, and since he's only 2 - that's both scary and adventurous - He will do something over and over until he puts up both fists and goes "yeah".

Wow, these are amazing things to overcome. It's so great to hear from proud parents and grandparents, who've helped their (grand)kids feel supported.
Maria Elena, I hope your daughter has found some good friends. :)
Yay! I just saw my name posted as the winner! Thank you so much! I emailed you.
