Marionette theater now an L.A. landmark

There was marionette madness today in L.A. as supporters of the Bob Baker Marionette Theater marched at City Hall, puppets in hand, to help urge the L.A. City Council to grant the theater historic cultural monument status.

Bob's friends must have tugged at some serious heartstrings because the Council voted 14-0 to approve the motion. The L.A. Times' L.A. Now blog has the full story.

CC and I still have yet to visit the downtown theater, which opened in the early '60s, but I wrote about its financial crisis in December. Let's hope this unanimous vote will relieve some of the pressure on the puppet master.
