* Spring Wing Ding Game Day (Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

For the past two years, Ian, CC and I have enjoyed this rollicking Hollywood festival. There are tons of things for the kiddos to do -- yay bounce houses and slides! -- as well as eat. CC also loves the games and prizes. Best of all? It's free!

* CicLAvia (Sunday, April 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.)

This free, pedestrian-friendly event encourages Angelenos to get out enjoy the city al fresco. The second of its kind in Los Angeles (the first was last October), CicLAvia will open up 7.5 miles of downtown streets so L.A. denizens can walk, bike or otherwise socialize without the fear of being tossed aside by oncoming traffic. CicLAvia (translated from Spanish to English as "bike path") was inspired by ciclovia, the weekly street closure in Bogota, Colombia.

If you and the kiddos love cars -- and Fords specifically -- this is a great opportunity to check out classic and brand-new rides. Setting up shop in a lot adjacent to Knott's Berry Farm, the event is free to spectators who are eager to celebrate the anniversaries of such Ford cars as the Pinto, Bronco and Econoline. There will also be a limited number of discounted tickets to Knott's, priced at $30 (adults) and $21 (children and seniors).
